Challenge
A considerable number of wind turbines lose a rotor blade every year due to material failure or fatigue. The blades, or parts of them, then fly around as dangerous projectiles. How can this danger be eliminated?
Invention
The RES rotor blade is prestressed by an internal cable that is attached to the rotor head at one end and to several longitudinal sections of the blade itself. In the event of structural failure, this keeps the blade or its pieces aligned.
Advantages
- Safety line for a rotor blade
- This involves strengthening the reinforcement of a rotor blade with an additional tension member in its hollow space/li>
Applications
- Wind turbines of all sizes
